Caryngo was a rare collaboration between the two biggest names in Swedish furniture design in the 1950s. The name can be traced to the chair's two creators, Carl Malmsten and Yngve Ekström, and was produced by the latter's company. While Malmsten drew thenen var Ekström ansvarig för detaljarbetet, och de första versionerna gick under namnet ”Modell Yngve”.
